The new VSE 64/66mm G3 VGT was developed specifically for the 2024+ L5P Duramax with a focus on towing, response, efficiency, drive-pressure control, EGT control, and 650+ RWHP capability.

⚡ Titanium Nitride Coated 64mm Compressor

One of the most recognizable features of the new G3 is its Titanium Nitride coated 64mm billet compressor wheel—a first for the L5P Duramax market.

The lightweight 11-blade, 11° swept compressor was designed around broad compressor efficiency, airflow, and transient response, with 75+ lb/min of airflow capacity.

The TiN coating isn't there solely for appearance. Titanium Nitride provides an extremely hard, wear-resistant surface with several advantages in a high-speed compressor application:

  • Improved erosion resistance – helps protect the compressor blades from fine particulate entering through the intake system.

  • Improved abrasion resistance – provides a significantly harder protective surface than bare aluminum.

  • Leading-edge protection – helps preserve critical compressor blade geometry over extended high-speed operation.

  • Long-term surface protection – helps maintain the machined surface condition of the compressor wheel.

And the unmistakable gold finish makes the G3 compressor instantly recognizable.


⚡ Drop-In Upgrade – No Tuning Required

The G3 64/66 was designed as a direct drop-in turbocharger for the 2024+ L5P.

Installation does not require custom tuning. The turbo can be installed and operated on the factory calibration, making it an excellent option for customers looking for improved turbocharger airflow, efficiency, and performance without immediately changing the calibration.

For customers wanting to take advantage of the turbo's full capability, custom tuning is highly recommended.

Proper calibration allows us to optimize the engine and VGT controls around the increased compressor and turbine flow capability, maximizing:

  • Power output

  • Turbo response

  • VGT operation

  • Drive-pressure control

  • EGT control

  • Overall engine and turbocharger efficiency

Stock tuning makes it an easy drop-in upgrade. Custom tuning allows the complete G3 package to be utilized to its full potential.


⚡ Built for Efficiency & Highway MPG

Not every turbo upgrade needs to sacrifice fuel economy for peak horsepower.

The G3 64/66 was specifically designed to remain lightweight, responsive, and efficient during normal driving and highway operation.

A lighter and more efficient rotating assembly requires less energy to accelerate, while improved turbine-side flow helps reduce the exhaust restriction the engine has to work against.

The goal is simple: move the required air with less wasted energy.

Combined with the 64mm compressor's efficient operating range, the G3 is designed to provide excellent highway fuel economy while still having the airflow capacity to support 650+ RWHP when requested.

Actual fuel economy will always depend on vehicle configuration, load, speed, driving style, tires, gearing, elevation, and calibration, but the G3 was deliberately engineered as a high-efficiency, MPG-friendly performance turbo, not a large turbo that has to be pushed hard just to operate efficiently during normal driving.


⚡ Fixing the 2024+ L5P Drive-Pressure Problem

The factory 2024+ L5P turbocharger becomes increasingly drive-pressure prone as airflow, load, and power demand increase.

That matters because excessive exhaust manifold pressure makes the engine work harder to evacuate the cylinder, increases pumping losses, adds heat, and ultimately limits how efficiently the engine can continue making power.

Changing the compressor wheel alone doesn't correct the problem.

Swapping a larger compressor wheel into the stock 2024+ turbo leaves the factory turbine wheel and vane geometry in place, meaning the primary exhaust-side restriction is still there.

More compressor airflow is only useful if you can efficiently drive it.

That's why so much of the G3 development went into the turbine side.

Our 76 x 66mm proprietary 9-blade turbine and 11mm VGT vane cage/nozzle were developed together to substantially increase exhaust-side flow capacity while retaining the VGT control required for response and exhaust braking.

The result is substantially more turbine-side flow capacity than the factory 2024+ turbo while maintaining the characteristics that make a VGT work so well on a street and tow application.


⚡ 76 x 66mm 9-Blade Turbine

The turbine side is one of the biggest differences between the G3 and a compressor-only upgrade.

The G3 uses our proprietary:

76mm x 66mm 9-blade turbine

paired with a:

Proprietary 11mm VGT vane cage/nozzle

The combination was developed to balance:

  • Increased exhaust mass-flow capability

  • Reduced drive-pressure restriction

  • Fast transient response

  • Strong low-RPM response

  • Controlled EGTs under sustained load

  • VGT exhaust-brake authority

The 9-blade design also produces the distinctive turbine sound performance Duramax owners are looking for.


⚡ Why 64/66mm?

Bigger isn't always better—especially when the truck actually gets used as a truck.

We developed the G3 64/66 around usable airflow, turbine efficiency, drive-pressure control, and transient response rather than simply choosing the largest compressor dimensions possible.

The 64mm compressor flows 75+ lb/min, giving it the airflow capacity to support 650+ RWHP while maintaining excellent response.

On the exhaust side, the 76 x 66mm 9-blade turbine and proprietary 11mm vane cage provide the additional exhaust-flow capacity needed as power and load increase.

The complete combination was designed to:

  • Keep drive pressure under control

  • Maintain EGTs during sustained load

  • Deliver fast transient response

  • Retain strong VGT exhaust braking

  • Provide excellent heavy-towing characteristics

  • Maintain excellent highway efficiency

  • Support 650+ RWHP

  • Maintain the drivability expected from a properly engineered VGT

For a truck that might spend hundreds of miles towing down the interstate and then get turned up when you want it, this is exactly where we wanted the G3 64/66.


⚡ Upgraded Bearing System

The G3 also receives upgraded internal components designed for the increased thermal and mechanical loads associated with towing and performance use:

  • Upgraded thrust plate

  • Upgraded thrust bearing

  • Upgraded journal bearings

Durability matters even more on a turbo designed for sustained load than it does during a short dyno pull.

The G3 was developed and tested around real-world sustained operation, not simply peak dyno numbers.
