Introducing the new VSE High-Flow Exhaust Manifold for the 2020–2026 GM 3.0L Duramax diesel.

Our primary focus during development was improving fuel economy, reducing exhaust backpressure, and addressing reliability concerns with the factory exhaust manifold.

We've encountered cracking on OEM 3.0L Duramax manifolds, particularly around the turbocharger mounting flange. Our replacement manifold is manufactured using the same high-temperature cast steel/Inconel alloy found in our VSE L5P Turbo Pedestal, with a continuous in-service temperature rating of 2,600°F.

In addition to the upgraded material, the manifold features improved exhaust port transitions and reduced flow restriction, allowing the turbocharger to operate more efficiently.

VSE Performance Testing

During our in-house development and testing, we measured the following improvements over the factory manifold:

• 21% REDUCTION IN EXHAUST DRIVE PRESSURE (PEAK LOAD)

• +3 PSI INCREASE IN BOOST PRESSURE

• +4 LBM INCREASE IN MEASURED AIR MASS

• +15 HP AVERAGE HORSEPOWER GAIN

• +33 LB-FT AVERAGE TORQUE GAIN

• IMPROVED FUEL ECONOMY POTENTIAL — Reduced exhaust restriction and lower engine pumping losses

All measurements were taken during actual vehicle testing at VSE. 

Improved Fuel Economy & Turbocharger Efficiency

Excessive exhaust drive pressure increases engine pumping losses and reduces overall efficiency.

Our high-flow manifold reduces this restriction, allowing the turbocharger to maintain boost pressure with a more open VGT vane position. This reduces the amount of work required to move exhaust gases through the engine and turbocharger.

Reduced pumping losses can translate into improved fuel economy, particularly during highway driving, towing, and sustained engine loads.

The additional horsepower and torque are welcome improvements, but fuel economy, efficiency, and long-term reliability remain the primary focus of this product.

High-Temperature Construction & Improved Exhaust Flow

The VSE manifold incorporates several improvements over the factory design:

• PREMIUM CAST STEEL/INCONEL ALLOY — Same high-temperature casting material used in our VSE L5P Turbo Pedestal.

• 2,600°F CONTINUOUS SERVICE TEMPERATURE RATING — Designed for extreme exhaust temperatures and demanding diesel applications.

• CYLINDER HEAD PORT MATCHING — Exhaust manifold runners are matched to the cylinder head exhaust ports to reduce restriction and improve exhaust flow.

• TURBOCHARGER INLET PORT MATCHING — Manifold outlet is matched to the turbocharger inlet for a smoother exhaust transition and reduced turbulence.

• IMPROVED EXHAUST FLOW — Reduced restriction compared to the factory exhaust manifold.

• UPGRADED THERMAL DURABILITY — Designed for repeated heat cycles and sustained towing loads.

• REINFORCED RELIABILITY FOCUS — Upgraded construction intended to address cracking concerns we've encountered around the factory turbocharger mounting flange.
